Frank Sinatra sang about one of the most famous cities in the world: New York City. The city of New York, often called The Big Apple, is located on the Manhattan island in the United States of America and it is its current most populous city, and it represents the largest metropolitan area in the world. It used to be the city of the Dutch. Nowadays, this is a city of skyscrapers, national parks, high-fashion, upper-class society, the Statue of Liberty welcoming people from all around the world.

Not everybody gets a chance to visit New York, and those who get a chance often do not know where to start their visit. For those who are lucky enough to visit the Big Apple, here are some must-see places to visit while in New York.

Times Square

Times Square is located in the Midtown Manhattan, and it is a major tourist destination. It is known as the Crossroads of the World, the heart of the world, the heart of the Great White Way. It goes by many names. Many buildings, billboards, and advertisements surround it. It has been featured in many films, songs, and commercials, and it is famous for the many tourists who visit it. Sometimes over 460 000 people walk through the Times Square. Be on of them and enjoy this popular tourist site.

The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is the symbol of New York. It is located on the Ellis Island and it represented the freedom for all the immigrants who came to the United States. It was a present from France to the United States of America. It was built by Gustave Eiffel and created by Bartholdi in neoclassical style. The Statue represents Libertas, the goddess of liberty who holds a torch above her head with her right hand, and in her left hand holds a table with the date of the Declaration of Independence inscribed on it. It is an important part of New York history and a must-see for all the tourists.

Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn Bridge is an important part of US history. It was built in 1883 across the East River to carry non-automotive traffic and it connected Lower Manhattan with Brooklyn. It has been featured in many films and it represents one of the most famous must-see sites in the city of New York.

Empire State Building

Empire State Building is a must-see for all the tourists who come to New York. It is located in Manhattan and it is a 102-story building. It was built in 1931 and it is still among the tallest buildings in the world. It gives a wonderful view of the city worth seeing.

One World Observatory

One World Observatory is the main building of new World Trade Center destroyed during 9/11 terrorist attack. Nowadays, it stands as the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere, and it represents the rise of the United States after the terrorist attacks.
